January 2015 Sony A6000, Rokinon 12mm F2.0 For all the photographic options Yosemite offers during the day, there may be even more at night. I was originally disappointed by the full moon during our trip, ruling out Milky Way photography. However, clear skies meant the opportunity to spend the night photographing star trails above Yosemite Falls.

October 2014 Sony A6000, Sigma 19mm F2.8 DN It's not a perfect picture, but this first planned attempt at Milky Way photography is special to me. The mapping, weather watching, driving, and loneliness involved in this style of photography is worthwhile when the first photos come through with the incredible beauty of the galaxy.
